2018 Yearly Review

It always amazes me how excited I am for the days between Christmas and New Year’s Day, and then how quickly it goes by.  These days are some of my absolute favorite days of the year.  Work is slow (if even happening), the kids are around and we have a lot of extra family time, I get to spend a good amount of time on one of my favorite things (planning, organizing), and most of the days are spent in PJs.   All wonderful things!

This year, the time seemed to go extra fast. The weekend before Christmas flew by with all the tasks I had to get done in order to host for the first time.  Family was in town so we spent a lot of time going from one house to another enjoying meals and memories. We hosted Christmas for the first time and also had our first Christmas in our new home, so that was amazing and crazy.  We had five family members staying with us, so a lot of prep work went into that.  After Christmas, we had a few days where we needed to squeeze some work in, and then we went on a 4 hour road trip to be present at the surprise party of a good friend of mine…and then drove back the next day!  We finally stuffed in some errands so we could enjoy the Seahawks game yesterday, and now we have arrived at today.  I finally took a day off and have been using it to prepare for the New Year and to also just clean up and rest. I can’t believe Christmas break is almost over, yet I also cannot believe we packed so much in!

As always during this time, I like to reflect on the year and what I have accomplished (and of course, not accomplished).  Here are a few of the things I think I did well during 2018:

1. I finally took my health and wellness seriously. I’ve been doing Beachbody programs for over 10 years, but I would always commit, finish, and then drift away from working out and eating well.  In 2018, I completed 80 Day Obsession in January – April, and instead of stopping my daily workouts, I continued every day for the whole year doing Chisel, A Little Obsessed, another round of 80DO, LIIFT4, and multiple rounds of 21 Day Fix Extreme.  I have finally figured out how to eat well, love exercise, and still enjoy life.  I am also in the best shape of my life because of 2018.

2.  I did the Miracle Morning SAVERS on every weekday (except a holiday).  I have kept the streak going for more than a year, and I’m very proud.  I will write more about this later, but waking up this way has really changed my life.

3. We finally had our house built and we moved in.  Since moving back to my home town 4 years ago, we have moved 6 times.  Six!!  In May we finally moved into our forever home, and now I can finally breathe and find peace in knowing we are home.

4. Last, but not at all least, I started this blog.  This one right here.  I have said for years I wanted to start TheHackerMom and build a social media presence and take it who-knows-where.  And I’m doing it.  It’s not perfect yet, nor does it have a lot of readers or followers.  But I did it.  Baby steps.

I have so many more things that I’m proud of this year, but these are my biggest ones.  I can’t wait to write the post for my 2019 goals and to review them one year from now.

What were your biggest accomplishments of 2018?  I hope you’re moving onward and upward into the New Year and I congratulate you in all that you’ve done!
