Quick Tip to Make Sports Prep Easier

We are deep into the Spring Sports and already I feel the looming disaster that could happen at any moment if I’m not on top of things.

Currently we have soccer and baseball happening in our household. The cleats, socks, shin guards, bats, bags, baseballs, water bottles, baseball clothes, and yes, even those damn cups can cause our home to be in a complete uproar if we don’t have our shit together.

My tip to myself is you have to get the kids involved in prepping for themselves. There are too many items to keep track of and they are too old to not be a part of keeping it all organized.

I have created checklists for both of my kids and their respective spring sport. My new goal is that they have to go through that list and make sure everything is ready (or in the process of getting washed) the day before a practice or a game.

Then, on the day of the practice or game, they need to gather up everything on the list two hours prior to needing to leave. This way, we are not scrambling at the last moment to find socks, hats, etc. Everything needs to be ready to be put on or grabbed two hours beforehand.

And yes, I will help my kids as needed, but the responsibility is on them to make sure their gear is washed (get it in that hamper!) or that their bags are packed and ready.

We are teaching life skills here folks! Enjoy having one less thing on your list (eventually)!
