End of the Year Review (in March)

Yes, I am well aware that we are currently moving into March while the title of this post suggests an end of the year review.

Do I care? No. But I am aware.

For several years, I would jump in and start writing blog posts only to dwindle out after a few months until I found myself not posting again until my next New Year’s Resolution or a random Monday I deemed the Day I Start Over And Get My Shit Together.

For the year 2022, I finally went about it the right way. Starting at the end of 2021, I actually had blob posts written and four ready to go when 2022 began. My goal was to blog for a full year and not give up I aimed for two posts a week. One post was my Sunday Weekly Review and the other post was a tip, hack, or update on my life usually posted on Wednesdays.

For the first few months I remained almost a full month ahead on my blog posts (excluding the Weekly Reviews). As the year wore on, I became further and further behind until I was back to writing a post in the same week it was published. HOWEVER. I was very proud that I actually stayed consistent with my posting, even if I wasn’t as organized as I had started out the year.

The biggest drive behind my blogging was my BIG goal of improving my scores on the 10 Areas of Life Wheel. Every Sunday (give or take), I would rate 10 different areas of my life on a scale of 1 to 10 with a score of 10 meaning I had hit a Level 10 in that area and it was perfect.

I was able to keep this up for the whole year and now that 2022 is over (way over – hi March), I am ready to reveal how I did. Same as I did for 2021, I took my 2022 scores and averaged them out over the year and here is what I found:

I was pleasantly surprised to find that I improved my scores in every area. Every single one! That felt great to me.  I saw my biggest jumps in my family/friends scores and in the Fun/Recreation scores. I’m guessing this had to do with less COVID restrictions and finally getting to see more friends and family and go on more adventures.

I have decided to keep tracking again this year to see if I can beat my scores again. I’m always aiming for that elusive Level 10 in every single area. Maybe I’ll hit it, maybe I won’t, but I know that my life is improving just from making the small (and not so small) adjustments to each of these areas.

As for the blog, I’m going to try something new this year. I took January off to give myself a break and to allow myself some time to focus on a few other areas during the beginning of the year. I took February as a chance to plan some big changes I want to make to my blog along with give myself some time to really decide where I want to take this.

That discussion will be for another post, as one of my goals this year for the blog is to create short posts that are direct and to the point. As a busy working mom, I know I don’t have the time (even if I’d like it) to read long drawn out posts, and I’m guessing you don’t either. So here’s to getting in, getting shit taken care of, learning something, and getting on with our days.

Happy 2023 to you! I’d love to hear how your year is going so far and what reviews you are doing?
