30 Day Challenges For Everyone

Somehow we have now entered December.  It’s cliché, but I just don’t know where the time goes.  I feel like we just started 2018, and now it’s at a close.  I had so many goals for 2018.  Few I accomplished, few I did not.  One thing I love is a good Resolution List to start off the year, even if it doesn’t last.  The distant cousin of the New Year’s Resolution List is the 30 Day Challenge.  Have you met?
It seems like every life-choice has a 30 Day Challenge surrounding it.  30 days of clean eating, budget tracking, good sleeping, no alcohol drinking, less phone surfing, MINDFULNESS (gotta get in those buzz words), no yelling, self-caring…the list is endless.  Just adding hashtags to my 30 Day Challenge Insagram post brought on more options than I cared to know about.  30 Days of Bourbon?  Hmmm, maybe this holiday month is the time for that one!
I’m always signing up for 30 Day Challenge email groups that I find online.  They will send you an email task every day for a workout to try, a cleaning task, a journal question, and on and on.  I will stick to the plan for a few days, and then I lose my momentum.  Soon the emails are piling up and I’m looking for a 30 Day Challenge to keep on top of my emails and stop my challenge addictions.
Especially enticing to this list-loving hoping-to-be-organized-someday mom is a 30 Day Challenge coupled with the start of a new month.  Sure, I can start a 30 Day Challenge on the 14th, but when there’s a 1st of the month involved, it all just seems perfect.  And here we are at the beginning of another month.  A month that just happens to be the last month of the year, so there is even more pressure to get in those 30 day challenges to really leave the year with a bang.
This could really mess with a person’s head.  Trying to meet all of these “extra” 30 Day Challenge goals while trying to just make it through the holidays with my sanity intact doesn’t seem especially feasible.
So I’ve decided to refrain from starting any 30 Day Challenges this month, even though the stars align perfectly with a new month and the last month of the year.  Instead, I’m going to continue my baby steps in getting organized, and look at the big picture and not try to do everything at once only to get overwhelmed and quit.
Are you big on 30 Day Challenges?  Are you trying any for the month of December?
