Book Review: Fast Like a Girl

Biggest Takeaway: Due to differences in hormone levels during the month, women should not take a one-size-fits-all approach to fasting that men typically follow. 

 

How I read it: E-book from my local library 

 

Backstory You Didn’t Ask For: I followed Intermittent Fasting for almost two years using the 16:8 structure in hopes of increasing my low energy. It worked for a few months but then I went back to being tired all the time. When I read that this could be due to not fasting correctly around my hormone cycles, I had to read this book. 

 

Recommend: Yes if you actually want to do IF and are a woman. I have been following this new structure for over a month and have had increased energy and feel much better. I plan to do a blog post later with an update on how it’s going. 

 

Highlights: 

  • Exact structure for how to change fasting schedules based on hormones 

  • Ideas for experienced fasters 

  • Recipes
