Do the Damn Thing NOW

Seriously now. Do it.

Three years ago I received a very nice The North Face coat as a gift in a beautiful pink color that instantly became my favorite coat.

After wearing it for a little over a year, the metal piece at the end of the zipper that slides into the zipper pull came off.

For almost 2 years (YES two years!!!) I wore that jacket sporadically and just used the Velcro to (barely) hold it closed when needed.

I had it on my to do list to call seamstresses, I purchased a zipper kit that I eventually returned, I watched YouTube videos on how to fix a zipper.

And yet, I did nothing.

About a year into the issue, I remembered that The North Face had a lifetime guarantee and you could send them the jacket with a completed form and they would fix it if it was possible.

And still, I did nothing.

When I finally decided I would send it in, I took months to find a box. Then months to get the coat packaged up. Then another month to actually drop it at the post office.

I felt foolish the day I finally dropped it off and sent it out. Even more foolish when I got the email saying they could fix it and I would receive it in about 6-8 weeks.

And absurdly foolish the day I got it back completely repaired. After years of dragging my feet. When I could have been wearing it.

This post is my notice to you.

Think of that think you have been putting off for months, even years. DO IT. Break it into the smallest task you can do right now and DO IT.

Go. I’ll wait.

Ok, did you do it? I hope you did. I know it’s just a simple coat repair but I think about it often when I’m procrastinating now. JUST GO DO THE DAMN THING.

And let me know in the comments that you did. Go us!
